As we continue our effort to bring Baroque music into the 21st Century, the Santa Cruz Baroque Festival is always looking for new ways to make the music, performed on period musical instruments, fresh and exciting. This is done by our world-class performers. By integrating their awareness of the ethnic origin and folk influences on the music into their performances, they bring the listeners on a music journey of the Old World. The cultural influences on Baroque music range from the Middle East to Ireland. This brings about an understanding of why Baroque music could be considered early ‘world beat.’
