I. Love Songs and Arias from the time of Bach Join us for a romantic evening with the Bach family at home. Enjoy selections from favorite cantatas, and from the Anna Magdalena Bach book. Saturday, February 27, UCSC Recital Hall. II. The Virtuoso Bach: A Birthday Bash! Celebrate Bach's birthday with virtuoso solos interpreted by outstanding emerging artists. Saturday, March 20. Holy Cross Church. III. The Mystical Bach: The Flame of Faith The highest spiritual achievement of the Enlightenment was perhaps the North German tradition of contemplative counterpoint. Follow the path of Bach's own heart in his greatest works, alongside music by favorite composers of the older generation. Saturday, April 3. UCSC Recital Hall. IV. Musical Enlightenment: Bach & the French Connection The finest of Bach's international inspirations: quartets for Parisian taste by Telemann and Couperin, with works by J.S. and W.F. Bach. Saturday, April 24. Holy Cross Church. V. Bach 2000: The Family Legacy The Bach family legacy: music by his children, and works of Bach interpreted by succeeding generations. From the 'Romantic' Bach revival to the Swingle Singers and winners of UCSCís Bach chorale competition. Featuring UCSCís premiere vocal ensemble with authentic instruments. Saturday, May 15.
